Before the railroad renamed it in 1871, Greenlawn was farm country called Old Fields, and nineteenth-century growers here became known for pickles. That history shows in the housing: a few old farmhouses and village homes sit among postwar Capes, ranches, high ranches and Colonials built as the fields gave way to neighborhoods.
